City Ombudsman bringing services to communities

03 September 2024

The City Ombudsman and the South African Social Services Agency (SASSA) are bringing services to communities in the metro’s southern region.

The Office of the City Ombudsman and SASSA's Wynberg mobile service have teamed up to provide voluntary and free services at various City venues within the southern peninsula. Residents and interest groups sometimes become frustrated about unresolved queries. Members of the public can turn to the Ombudsman's office to investigate and resolve municipal-related complaints about the municipality as a last resort.

Residents are encouraged to visit the following venues and bring along their municipal accounts, ID and evidence of queries lodged with the City of Cape Town:

•             Wednesday, 4 September 2024 from 09:30 to 14:00 at the Hout Bay Sports and Recreation Centre, Karbonkel Road, Hangberg, Hout Bay

•             Tuesday, 10 September 2024 from 09:30 to 14:00 at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre, 65B Central Circle, Fish Hoek

•             Thursday, 12 and 26 September 2024 from 09:30 to 14:00 at the Retreat Civic Centre, corner of Retreat and Toring roads, Retreat

There will be SASSA assistance available to cater for the vulnerable with their weekly services available from 08:30 to 15:30 for the following needs:

•             older persons (60 years and over)

•             war veterans

•             disability (physically/mentally challenged)

•             SRD (unemployed)

•             care dependency

•             grant-in-aid

•             foster child support

•             child support grants

Residents with enquiries may contact SASSA's Regional Customer Care at 0214690235 or GrantsEnquiriesWC@sassa.gov.za
